tonyv Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Nice work, Judi, to commemorate MLK/civil rights day! Tony Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
Tinker Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 Thanks Tony, The Eggtimer isn't my favorite poetic frame, it isn't even in my top 1000 but it was the assigned form this morning at the "Ultimate Forms Challenge" at WDC. I thought it appropriate to at least acknowledge the holiday that allowed me to close my office today with it. Consequently, We Remember. Sometimes the form choices are interesting and fun to try and it gets me writing example poems for the Reference Section. But sometimes they are just dumb, like the Eggtimer. ~~Judi Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
A. Baez Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I don't see how this verse form in any way contributes to the message; that is, how the message of the first five lines benefits from being rewound in time in the second five lines. Quote
Tinker Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks Barry. AB, Agreed. Just chasing a form but it prompted me to write something. Which is better for me than writing nothing. ~~Judi Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
A. Baez Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 What would be interesting is to try to find a topic that conveyed a different meaning when read backwards than it did forwards! I'm guessing that might be the premise behind this form. Quote
